Sounds in The Square

AFTER AN ENFORCED BREAK IN 2020, SOUNDS IN THE SQUARE IS BACK IN 2021!

Sounds in The Square brings live music to Wellington’s Market Square on several Saturdays in the summer each year. It aims to showcase local performers from a range of genres, bringing them to a wider audience, whilst giving shoppers a taste of the music being made on their doorstep. It’s also part of our on going quest to make better use of Wellington’s public spaces, encouraging people to linger, chat and enjoy the town, rather than hurry through from A to B.

The programme is organised by our Wellington H2A volunteers, supported by Wellington Town Council. The programme has remained a little uncertain with the extension of social distancing rules into mid-July, but as things stand here’s what you can look forward to in July:

Saturday 3rd July: Dave Busby and Friends (11am-1pm, Market Square)

Saturday 17th July: Telford Steel Band (11am-1pm, Market Square)

Saturday 24th July: Three in a Bar Jazz Band (11am-1pm, Market Square)

CAN YOU HELP US TO KEEP THE MUSIC COMING?

The whole Sounds season costs us between £800-1000 a year to host. We pay for it thanks to support from Wellington Town Council, local businesses and even a few residents, who make personal contributions to help us sustain this programme of music.

So, if you like hearing a talented musicians performing in the middle of town on a summer’s day, you might like to help us. You can write a cheque to Sounds in The Square and deliver it to Wellington H2A, care of Ken Francis Butchers, 9 Market St, Wellington, TF1 1DT.
